Ecclesiastes shatters our illusions of comprehension and control in a fallen world. But the demolition is an act of divine love. The Father delights to replace our futile toil for gain with the joy of fearing God and obeying his commands. Instead of trying to be God, we learn to trust God and savor ordinary expressions of his goodness until the day he makes all things new.
