  1. Where do you see God's sovereign hand prevailing, even in the mess of David's rise to the throne? How has the same God upheld you recently?

  2. David's faithfulness to inquire of the Lord points us toward a lifestyle of dependence that prioritizes beholding the glory of God and listening to his voice above all else. How can you practice dependence this week?

  3. To experience God's steadfast love and faithfulness is to live in obedient, covenant relationship with him. Where do you need to grow in submitting to his authority?

  4. The battle doesn't go well for Abner and his men. Where are you tempted to strive for power instead of trusting God's Chosen King?
