Sunday Review: 6/1/25
On Sunday June 1, 2025, Matthew Wiliams preached the message “Godly Sorrow” from 2 Samuel 1. To listen to this message again, click here. See below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
What’s the problem with thinking of truth as good and emotions as a liability?
How does a concern for God’s kingdom fuel David’s grief in 2 Samuel 1? Can you think of an example from your own life where sadness was rooted in self-centered affections? What would God-centered affections grieve in the same situation?
What enables godly sorrow to remember God’s grace, even in the lives of people who hurt us?
Think of a good gift you enjoyed while it was present and grieved when it was gone. Are you tempted to hold that gift at arm’s length in some way for fear of getting hurt again? What kind of righteous affections will protect you from that temptation?
