Sunday Review: 10/12/25
On Sunday October 12, 2025, Matthew Williams preached the message “The Permanence of the Purposes of an Invisible God” from 2 Samuel 17. To listen to this message again, click here. See below for discussion questions on this passage and message.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Is there a situation in your life right now where it feels like other people are in control of your life and God seems invisible ? What expressions of God’s sovereign power in 2 Samuel 17 strengthen your trust in the Lord?
Why do you think God doesn’t let us see all he is sovereignly doing? Why is so much of his activity (both in 2 Samuel 17 and in our lives today) hidden? See John 20:29 or Hebrews 11:1.
Who are some of the “ordinary” people God has used to provide for you over the last week? Do you process their provision as an expression of the Lord’s generosity?
What’s the difference between thinking “I’m just doing my job” and recognizing “God is using me to provide for them”?
It’s one thing to know God is sovereign. It’s another to rejoice in his sovereignty. How does the gospel help us to remember and rejoice in God’s control amid great evil?
