  1. Do you see a pattern in your life of public thanksgiving for what God has done for you? Can you think of a recent conversation with another believer that deepened your gratitude for the gospel?

  2. Why is gratitude for the gospel a better motivation for obeying God than fear or guilt? 

  3. Are you experiencing joy in your relationship with God? What does Hannah see about God’s nature or actions that you need to believe?

  4. Why does God save the poor and needy, but condemn those who think they have it all together?

  5. How can the discipline of prayer deepen our joy in Jesus?
