Sunday Review: 8/21/2022
On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Matthew Williams preached the message “Clothed in Christ (Part I)” from Colossians 3:12-17. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Do you believe that you are one of God's chosen, holy, and beloved children? Explain your answer. Discuss what those three things mean: "chosen", "holy" and "beloved".
Why are we to "put on" (or clothe ourselves) with the virtues listed in Col. 3:12-13 (compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, bearing with one another, and forgiveness)? Also, how are we to "put on" these virtues?
Were you convicted during Matthew's message (or thereafter) that any of these virtues are "immature" in your life? Which one (or more) are you thinking about? How can you grow in that area(s), so that those virtues are more mature in your life?
Prov. 19:11 says "Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense." Matthew then mentioned that overlooking an offense is not a passive process of storing up anger. So what does it mean to overlook an offense committed against you?
Are you eager to forgive people who have sinned against you or do you think people should be "deserving" of your forgiveness before you are willing to forgive them? Why is it crucial for Christians to have an "attitude of forgiveness" or a willingness to quickly forgive?
