Sunday Review: 2/12/23

On Sunday, February 12, 2023, Matthew Williams preached the message “Rest in Jesus” from Deuteronomy 5:12-15. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. If work is a biblical mandate for all people, how is “Sabbath rest” more than the mere absence of work?

  2. What should the posture of our hearts be when we observe the Sabbath? (See Deut. 5:15.)

  3. How did Jesus change the Sabbath and how ought we observe the Sabbath today? (See Heb. 10:12.)

  4. Do you believe that consistent church attendance is of critical importance for every Christian? Explain. (See Heb. 10:23-24.)

  5. At heart, the Sabbath principle speaks to our trust in God. The Israelites had to trust God to provide them with enough manna for two days on the sixth day. How is observing the Sabbath a trust issue for you?

  6. Why is the specific day of the week on which we observe the Sabbath not critical?
