DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
When opposition arises on the path of bearing witness to Jesus, do you tend to lean into or away from community? When someone else comes to you with a challenge, is your first instinct to pray or give life advice?
Where do we see God’s sovereignty or absolute power over the affairs of men in Jesus’ story? Share an example of what it looks like to interpret opposition in our lives through the lens of the gospel.
Why does God’s sovereignty in creation, revelation, and history overflow in a cry for boldness in bearing witness to Christ?
When we pray for boldness, we’re not praying for a bold personality. We’re praying for a holy courage that asks in every situation, “Lord, what have you already said, especially about Christ and his saving work, that I could I say on your behalf in this conversation?” In what relationship or context do you need to step out in holy courage?
What should we expect Spirit-empowered boldness to feel like or not feel like?
