Sunday Review: 4/26/26

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, Quinton Cools preached the message “It’s Christ’s Work, Not Yours” from Acts 8:1-25. To listen to this message again, click here. See below for discussion questions on this passage and message.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. Persecution led to a dispersed church and spread of the gospel. What trials are you facing that push you beyond your comfort zone? How could God use your circumstances to announce the good news of the treasure we have in Christ?

  2. What verses from this passage prompt you to embrace difficult conversations and avoid prioritizing a life of ease?

  3. Is your joy susceptible to being robbed by circumstances in the world around you? If so, is it misplaced? Are you relying on God as your source of joy or trying to build a future you control?

  4. Our prayers can sound like Simon the magician; bargaining with God as if he’s a power to be used. ‘My kingdom come, my will be done.' How can we make petitions to the Lord with reverence in a way that aligns with His wisdom?

  5. Simon was more interested in making a name of himself than Christ. How can you grow in treasuring Christ, living for the audience of One, and remembering it’s God’s work, not yours?

  6. What notable people are you enamored with through their books, podcasts, or teachings? What does discernment look like to guard our minds and validate agreement with God’s Word?
