  1. Where are you vulnerable to selfish ambition in your personal life or in church ministry?

  2. Where are you tempted to dismiss or despise the human authorities God has placed in your life? Do you see that as despising God’s authority? Why or why not?

  3. Where do you want to grow in loyally serving King Jesus as a spiritual exile?

  4. What does humility toward God look like when suffering makes us uncertain whether he is pleased or displayed with our actions?

  5. When we know our suffering is partly our own fault, should we still pray for God’s help? What gives us confidence the Lord will answer our prayers? Does trusting God’s sovereignty ever mean letting go and letting God?
