Sunday Review: 4/3/2022

On Sunday, April 3, 2022, Steve Teter preached the message “Is Jesus Trustworthy?” from Matthew 26:30-56. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this Sunday’s message.

  1. In :39 Jesus prayed “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me, nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will?” What was this “cup” that Jesus referred to and why was it the Father’s will not to let it pass from Jesus?

  2. When you experience suffering, struggles and darkness in your own life, to what extent do you follow Jesus’ example of entrusting yourself to God the Father and to his will?

  3. We see here that the disciples could not stay awake while Jesus was praying; a sure sign of human weakness. Where do you see similar weakness (where your spirit is willing, but your flesh is weak) in your spiritual life and what should your response be to it?

  4. In :33 we see Peter boldly and confidently proclaiming that he will never “fall away from Jesus”, yet we see later in this same chapter that he denied Jesus three times. How can you and I be confident that we will not “fall away” from Jesus?

  5. The preacher (Steve Teter) helped us to see that Jesus “obeyed fully” in his suffering … even to the point of death on the cross (see Phil. 2:8). Why is this “full obedience” from Jesus so significant?
