Sunday Review: 5/31/26
On Sunday, May 31, 2026, Matthew Williams preached the message “What Kind of Church Does God Build” from 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. To read a manuscript of this message, click here. See below for discussion questions on this passage and message.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
How does the physical work of our building swap illustrate Paul’s main point in 1 Corinthias 12? How does the gospel create a people who are both united and diverse?
Paul compares the spiritual body of the church to our physical bodies. What idols of the heart make it tempting to create a church that’s a pile of “feet” or “hands”? What are some ways we can worship those idols?
Why should you join and remain in a church precisely because you are not like everyone around you? If God is building a diverse body where every member is essential, how does that change the way we think about ourselves and fellow members?
If you’re a KingsWay member, are you engaging with the whole body as if you are indispensable or do you view some people (or yourself) as unneeded? How are you doing pursuing people outside your comfort zone?
Neither relative strength nor relative visibility determine how important or honorable a body part is. How can you follow the Lord in giving “greater honor” to parts of the church that lack it in the eyes of the world?
Where do you need to grow in sharing the sorrows and joys of fellow church members who are not like you? If you’re not a member of our church, what’s holding you back?Where have you seen the Lord’s faithfulness in our church body in the past?
