DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Is there an area of your life where you're susceptible to believing a lie that there are limitations to how God may use you because of something in your past? What elements of Saul's story demonstrate otherwise?
How does this passage enlighten our understanding of God's character and how He operates? Review some of the passages mentioned in the sermon to hear what God has to say about his purposes: Isaiah 46:10, Proverbs 19:21, Psalm 138:8, Philippians 1:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:24.
Do you feel your shortcomings or brokenness cannot be part of God's purposes? Read Ezekiel 36:22-38 to review. For whose sake does God renew, reconcile, and regenerate the desolate places of our lives? Invite the Lord into those places to find His purposes.
Matthew said, "God upholds His purpose for our lives through the care of His people around us." How are you providing care for others currently? Who is caring for you? Are you active in communities where this is considered the norm? If not, how can you set the expectation?
Saul met resistance and doubt within the church. How do we balance guarding our hearts from spiritual blindness, allowing for wise discernment, but still having keen eyes for the activity of God's grace in others' lives? How can we be sons and daughters of encouragement like Barnabas?
