Sunday Review: 6/28/2026

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, Pastor Matthew Williams preached the message “From Partiality to Hospitality” from Acts 10. To listen to the message, click here. See below for discussion questions on this passage and message.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. God recognized Cornelius's alms and prayers as steps of obedience even though he was not yet a Christian. God also connected him with Peter to not walk that journey alone. What does this tell us about God's character? Do you identify more with Cornelius or Peter in this story? Why?

  2. Both Peter and Cornelius receive divine guidance during a time of prayer. Does your daily routine prioritize prayerful time lingering with the Lord so He can guide you? What is He telling you?

  3. Is there someone or a class of people you think you are superior to? How can you raise them up, affirming your mutual value and dignity before God? How does "all people" mentioned in Genesis 12:3 affect your heart?

  4. As you reflect on your routines, are you living out a hospitality as wide as your comfort zone or as wide as the gospel? How does Isaiah 49:6 guide your thinking?

  5. Peter was teachable on the rooftop in response to God's calling to quickly overturn his previous way of thinking while men were knocking at his door. Has God altered your thinking about a previously-held belief? Are there walls of hostility he's calling you to break down to those standing outside your door?

  6. Reflect on Romans 5:8-10 to ponder God's hospitality in embracing us. How does this compel you to embrace others; even those not like you or seemingly adversarial to you?
