Sunday Review: 7/5/2026
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, Pastor Matthew Williams preached the message “The True Story” from Acts 11:1-18. To listen to the message, click here. See below for discussion questions on this passage and message.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Matthew said, “there are many means of grace, but only one means of salvation.” How does the shorthand saying of “God, man, Christ, response” tell the saving grace of the gospel? What verses do you know to fill in the story?
How does the promise of Ephesians 1:13 grant you an eternal perspective and peace each day regardless of perceived losses and successes of that day?
Peter recounts how he preached Christ crucified. He didn’t have a polished message, special prayer or even get to a lesson on repentance, yet the Holy Spirit broke in! How can this embolden us to seize opportunities to share Christ?
If we, like Peter, remain focused on God’s activity, it will result in us being confident, humble and dependent. How do you express your confidence, humility and dependence on the Lord? Are some private and some public? Matthew 5:16 can guide us.
How can we align our interpretation of life, as Peter did, with God at the center? Discuss with someone a circumstance you are currently facing that requires the Lord’s discernment for right thinking.
The Jerusalem Jews quickly pivoted from criticism to praise through the Spirit’s power. Is there an area of your heart that needs to repent/turn from a cynical hard heart? How do you find encouragement in remembering that repentance is a gift granted by God, available to all willing to receive it, and leads to life?
