DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. What forms of bearing false witness are most prevalent in today’s society? In what ways are you personally most susceptible to bearing false witness?

  2. What does it mean that bearing false witness is a “heart issue” and that it is primarily sin against our Holy God?

  3. How is bearing false witness opposed to the new commandment Jesus gave us to love one another? (See John 13:34 and 1 Cor. 13:4-7.) 

  4. James 3:8 says that “no human being can tame the tongue”. What then is our hope for victory over the sin of bearing false witness?

  5. Have you ever been hurt by gossip or slander? Were you able to forgive and be reconciled to the person(s) who sinned against you? If you are still hurt and in need of reconciliation, who is one person you can ask for help? 

  6. Josh said “the fight for victory over sin is the fight to see the supremacy of Christ in our lives.” How do you fight to see the supremacy of Christ in your own life?
