  1. How does the fact that Jesus is “Immanuel (God with us)” affect your day-to-day life?

  2. Why does God often work in ways that are foolish in the eyes of men? (See 1 Cor. 1:27-29.)

  3. Are there areas of your life where you feel that God is not meeting your expectations, and as a result you are tempted to think, “Maybe God is not at work in this area of my life”? Explain. What is the truth about those areas of your life?

  4. How does God’s Word comfort you in times of turmoil and distress? What are some of your “go-to” passages in Scripture when you seek God’s comfort?

  5. In what ways are you aware of the Holy Spirit’s supernatural power at work in your life?

  6. Is your obedience to God’s commands immediate and complete, like Joseph’s was, even when it is costly? Explain.
