Sunday Review: 12/11/22
On Sunday, December 11, 2022, Matthew Williams preached the message “A Ruler Worthy of Praise” from Matthew 2:1-12. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
In what ways are the rule and authority of King Jesus different from that of any other ruler? How is his rule better? (See Micah 5:4-5.)
How should we respond when we realize that we, like Herod, oppose and resist God’s authority over our lives, and that our natural desire is to cling to, and assert, our own authority? In which areas of your life do you struggle to submit to Jesus’ authority?
How is the wise men’s response to seeing Jesus an example to us? (See Matthew 2:11.) What is true worship and how is it more than only singing to Jesus? How is submitting to Jesus’ authority a worship issue?
What do you understand by the “fear of the Lord” (Prov. 1:7)? How can we increase in the fear of the Lord?
A star guided the wise men to Jesus. What “light” daily guides us to Jesus? (See 2 Peter 1:19.) How can we grow in rejoicing in the guiding gift of God’s Word?
How can we help each other to love and treasure Christ more?
