International Missions Weekend 2021

Our Sovereign Lord makes a promise in Isaiah 2:3-4, “It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say: ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.’ For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”

In these verses we see a picture of the worldwide expansion of the gospel. It’s a promise from the Lord himself that the good news of Christ and him crucified will go out to all nations and cause men and women from every tribe and tongue to come to Jesus and submit their lives to him as their greatest treasure.

We are so grateful that this work, his work, doesn’t stop in the midst of a global pandemic, which is why I’m excited for us to celebrate our 5th annual International Missions Weekend on March 13-14.

In his classic book, A Vision for Missions, Tom Well writes, “God is worthy to be known and proclaimed for who He is, and that fact is an important part of the missionary motive and message…Those who know the most about God are the most responsible and best equipped to tell of Him.”

We agree! At KingsWay, we believe the local church is the centerpiece of God’s mission strategy in the world. It was in the 1st century and it remains so in the 21st century. Jesus is at work around the world. And he accomplishes his work through the praying, giving, and going of his body, the church.

Because of this, we have four goals for our International Missions Weekend:

  1. Remember why God is passionately committed to saving people from every nation.

  2. Rejoice in the amazing work God is doing through the missionaries and churches we support.

  3. Pray for the gospel to go forth in power among specific, unreached people groups.

  4. Prepare our hearts to respond to God’s call by participating in short and long-term missions.

Highlights of our 2021 schedule include:

  • Watching video interviews with David & Jadwe Del Castillo in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and Josh & Lieze Kruger in Windhoek, Namibia.

  • Hearing a report from the Casa de Esperanza orphanage in Caranavi.

  • Our missionary couple from SE Asia joining us in person to talk about the sanctifying effect of suffering for the cause of Christ.

  • Watching a video testimony from the Director of Emerging Nations, Dave Taylor, celebrating the work God did around the world through our little denomination in 2020.

  • Distributing a prayer guide focused on Latin and South America containing reports from our own church members on the spiritual challenges in their home country and specific prayer needs. We want to take time to pray individually for these particular nations during the week leading up to IMW 2021.

  • Receiving our annual International Missions Fund offering dedicated to supporting and resourcing the work God is doing through our missionary partners in other nations.

Please mark your calendars for March 13-14. The Saturday evening session will be held in the Seminar Room from 6:30-8:30pm. Children are encouraged to attend.
