Sunday Review: 3/12/23

On Sunday, March 12, 2023, Matthew Williams preached the message “The Sanctity of Sex (Part II)” from Deuteronomy 5:18. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Given the nature of the topic, we encourage Community Groups to consider breaking into separate men’s and women’s groups before discussing some of the following questions.

  1. Making Jesus our greatest treasure is the ultimate strategy in our battle against sin, sexual sin included. How does making Jesus our greatest treasure help us in our battle against sexual sin? How can we make Jesus our greatest treasure? (See Ps. 63:1-3.)

  2. Given that we are to celebrate the gift of sex in marriage, how do single men and women, who are called to abstain from sex until they are married, celebrate the gift of sex in their singleness?

  3. Do you take sexual sin seriously? If so, how is that evident in the way you fight to kill lust in your life? (See Matt. 5:27-30.)

  4. If you are a parent, how do you (or did you) teach your children about sex and sexual sin?

  5. Do you experience, or have you ever experienced, condemnation, shame, or heartache regarding sex or sexual purity? How does embracing the gospel help us to be free from such condemnation, shame, or heartache?

  6. Why will seeing Jesus face to face be the Christian's ultimate joy, far exceeding any joy we experience on this earth?
