Sunday Review: 9/4/2022

On Sunday, September 4, 2022, Quinton Cools preached the message “Relationships Submitted to Christ” from Colossians 3:18-4:1. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. When wives submit to their husbands, and when husbands love and lay down their lives for their wives, how are these both pictures of the gospel of Jesus Christ? How are these things only possible because of the gospel of Jesus Christ?

  2. Why is it pleasing to the Lord when children obey their parents in everything and when fathers (or parents) do not provoke their children to discouragement? Where do you need God’s help in this area of your life?

  3. How has submission to “earthly masters” in the workplace been challenging for you? How has it helped you to be reminded that your work is “for the Lord and not for men” (v. 23) and that in your vocation, you are “serving the Lord Christ” (v. 24)?

  4. What is the inheritance you look forward to receiving as a reward from the Lord?

  5. Why is the topic of “submission to authority” such an unpopular topic in modern society? Why then, should we model willing, humble, joyful submission to authority “as is fitting in the Lord” (v. 18) to our friends, family, co-workers and neighbors?
