Christmas Gifts for Foster Children

Christmas Gifts for Foster Children

This Sunday, October 16, a representative from Henrico County Social Services, Jim Carey, will share with the KingsWay congregation about this year’s foster care Christmas gift initiative. Jim is a foster care supervisor with Henrico County Social Services and has decades of experience working with foster care youth and families. For the last 16 years he has been heavily involved in coordinating with churches and other organizations to donate Christmas gifts for every Henrico foster child and youth who needs them. He often speaks of how hard this time of year is for these youth because it reminds them of what they don’t have with their birth family while others are celebrating.

KingsWay has been participating in this expression of our love for these children for many years now, and it has been a testimony to God’s generosity through His people to the staff of Henrico County Social Services and to the foster families of Henrico County.

For the next 3 Sundays we will have an information table set up for you to sign up to sponsor a child. As usual we encourage community groups to sponsor a child together to allow for more people to participate in being generous without stretching things too far for any one person or family. Gifts are due to the church on Sunday, December 11. We will need to know if you wish to sponsor a child as soon as possible, but no later than Sunday, November 6. To sign up, or with questions, contact Shawn Rozier at (804) 201-7086 or rozier8@verizon.net. Please stop by the information table on Sunday to learn more, to speak with Jim, and to explore this special opportunity further.
