Advent Resources

Heeding the Apostle Paul’s admonition to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” is not limited to the climactic glory of his death (Col 3:16). It includes the stunning wonder of his birth. Yet as Christmas seasons come and go, we can slowly become less amazed that God would become a man like us. Getting the Christmas card out in time or finding the best deal on the kids’ gifts consumes our brain space.

Here’s where a well-written advent devotional can help. The format is straightforward. Read a brief meditation on the birth of Christ every day for the 25 December days leading up to Christmas. While most require no more than 5 minutes of your time, the spiritual benefits of fixing our eyes on Jesus are significant. My good friend, Karin Kruger, recently reviewed a number of advent devotionals for us. Her top recommendations are below. Enjoy!
