Jorge & Tere Del Castillo

PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION

In 2020, pastor Jorge Del Castillo moved from La Paz to Santa Cruz, Bolivia, to help his son, David, plant a new Sovereign Grace church. Over the last four years, Jorge’s health, especially his eyesight, deteriorated to the point where he needed to step back from full-time pastoral ministry. He receives a modest pension, but it’s not nearly enough to live on. When other churches in Sovereign Grace that know Jorge & David learned of the need, KingsWay included, we pooled our resources to help! It’s no different than what the churches throughout Asia did in the 1st century when they learned of a famine facing the church in Jerusalem.

Last year, KingsWay raised $10,000 through our Great Commission Fund to enable Jorge to retire with dignity after decades of faithful ministry. Thanks to additional support from other Sovereign Grace churches, we sent a total of nearly $40,000 to Jorge and his wife, Tere, this summer. Their son, David, helped them use the funds to buy an apartment (pictured above) in a highly desirable neighborhood in Santa Cruz, an apartment they are now renting out to provide monthly income. After receiving our gift, Jorge sent us the following note:

Dear friends: Together with Tere we want to thank the Lord for His Goodness in all of this. We also want to thank each of you for thinking of us and giving us all that money to be able to buy the apartment. We also feel very honored to belong to the Sovereign Grace Family. We love you very much and we pray to the Lord that He blesses your lives, families, and ministry. Greetings from Jorge and Tere.

Your generosity made it happen, KingsWay. Be encouraged and receive a well-done from the Lord!

If you’re a member of our church and want to contribute to any of our 2024 Great Commission Fund projects on top of your regular support of our General Fund, please click here to give and use the dropdown to indicate to which fund you are giving. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for the Sovereign Grace church plant in Windhoek, Namibia, $8,000 to translate gospel resources into Thai, and $10,000 to start a local church-planting fund for future plants in RVA or nearby cities in Virginia. It’s a privilege to support the local and global advance of the gospel so that more people would bow their knee to King Jesus!
