Sunday Review: 7/10/2022

On Sunday, July 10, 2022, Josh Earl preached the message “An Invitation to See Jesus” from Mark 10:46-52. To listen to this message again, click here. Please see below for discussion questions for this past Sunday’s message.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

  1. There seems to have been a sense of urgency and persistence in Bartimaeus to make sure he would get Jesus’ attention. Why do you think that was? Do you have a similar determination to humbly approach Jesus in your time of need? Why or why not?

  2. Do you feel like there are times when you are crying out to Jesus, but that he does not “hear you” like he heard Bartimaeus? In those times, do you tend to continue to cry out to Him in faith or do you tend to rebel in anger? How can we grow in trusting God’s faithfulness in the midst of prolonged suffering?

  3. If Jesus would ask you today what he asked Bartimaeus in Mark 10:51, “What do you want me to do for you?”, what would your answer be?

  4. Josh Earl talked about the abundant compassion and generosity of Jesus toward Bartimaeus. What are some examples of this compassion and generosity that you see in this passage? How have you experienced God’s abundant compassion and generosity in your life?

  5. What is the spiritual significance of Jesus healing Bartimaeus' physical sight? (See Isaiah 42:7 - “to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness”)
