loving our cuban brothers & sisters in Jesus’ name

In the book of Acts, churches don’t live in silos. They know one another. They care for one another. A need in one church is an opportunity to serve for another church

I love pastoring KingsWay because we are that kind of church. The Lord’s given us a heart to see the gospel advance through other churches. A win for them is a win for us, not just in our region, but around the world. The Lord has given us a unique opportunity this month to care for some like-minded churches in Cuba.

Cuba is a tough place to live, let alone follow Jesus. Food and work are scarce. The government is oppressive. And yet the gospel continues to advance! There are three pastors in Cuba – Juan, Eddie, and Pablo – who have been connecting with Sovereign Grace leaders for several years. Legal barriers make it nearly impossible for them to come to the U.S. or formally partner with our denomination.

Pastor Carlos Contreras, who leads Sovereign Grace Mexico, reached out to me last month asking if he could send one of our members, Mario Taracena, to Cuba to encourage and care for these pastors. I told Carlos it would be a joy! Funding for the 5-day trip (September 19-23) comes from our denominational mission fund, which KingsWay supports through 5% of our general fund income. Mario is also able to bring his wife, Amy, so she can befriend the pastors’ wives

Mario and Amy would like to bring a suitcase of supplies, especially medicine, to bless the pastors and their churches. Mario has created this list of low-cost items we can donate (click here). He will be available to collect them in the KingsWay foyer on Sunday, September 8 and Sunday, September 15.

Thank you in advance for supporting them! It’s a privilege to equip two of our own to love our Cuban brothers and sisters in Jesus’ name.
