Christmas Gifts for Children in Foster Care

This past Sunday October 27, Matthew Williams shared with the congregation about the vision and values behind participating in providing gifts for children in foster care in our area:

KingsWay Family,

For numerous years, many of you have participated in providing Christmas gifts for children in foster care in Henrico County. KingsWay member Shawn Rozier coordinates this effort, in hopes of various members sponsoring gifts for 25-30 children each year. The County’s goal is to connect with churches and other organizations to be able to provide Christmas gifts for every Henrico foster child and youth who needs them.

For children in foster care this can be a particularly hard time of year because it reminds them of what they don’t have with their birth family while others are celebrating. It often brings a flood of painful emotions in the midst of what is typically a happy time with family.  This ministry to them is our opportunity to express God's love for them, show kindness, and provide encouragement during very difficult times, remembering that it is the Lord who upholds the fatherless (Psalm 146:9).

Your faithful and sacrificial participation continues to be a testimony to God’s loving generosity and provision through His people to the staff of Henrico County Social Services and to the foster families and children of Henrico County.

Please let Shawn know this week if you are willing to buy gifts for a child so that he can let Social Services know how many children we will provide for. You can let him know by signing up via this link or the Sign-ups button on the App or stopping by his table in the foyer after the service this Sunday.

Shawn would like to know of everyone who will participate in this ministry by early November. In November, Shawn will provide you with your child’s wish list. Gifts will be due under the KingsWay Christmas tree by Sunday December 8.
