May 2021 Prayer Night Points

On Sunday evening, May 16, we gathered together to pray for multigenerational relationships. Prayer points and scripture readings from the meeting are below for your continued use.

Those Who Are Older

“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.” – Psalm 145:4-5

  • Humility that sees grace as the theme of our story so our words commend Christ and his power, not own merit or strength

  • Loving concern for the spiritual welfare of people other than ourselves

  • Perseverance to take initiative in discipleship even when it’s not reciprocated

  • Spiritual sensitivity to discern how God is at work in a younger person and join in

  • Wisdom to ask good questions that focus on the heart more than outward behavior

  • Gratitude that perceives the knowledge God has given us as a stewardship for his purposes

  • Confidence in God’s power making us quick to pray and slow to fix someone’s problems

KW Specific Need: Married couple to support Quin in Frontline ministry

Those Who Are Younger

“I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name’s sake. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one.” - 1 John 2:12–13

  • Humility that seeks counsel from others instead of leaning on our own understanding

  • Deliverance from fear of man that would be more concerned with pleasing people than learning from them

  • Courage to ask questions about vulnerable topics because they are secure in God’s love

  • Bring together people with common interests so we can grow spiritually while enjoying all of God’s good gifts

  • Holy expectancy that God will use them to encourage those who are older, even if their seasons of life are very different

  • Growing confidence as they hear God stories from those who are older that He who has been faithful will be faithful again

  • Passion to honor the Lord compelling them to not repeat the mistakes of past generations

KW Specific Need: Outpouring of the gift of prophecy among the 2nd & 3rd generations

Parents of Children

“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother’ (this is the first commandment with a promise), ‘that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.’ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” – Eph 6:1-4

  • Greater concern for their children’s heart toward God than their outward behavior

  • Humility that spends more time talking to God about their children than talking to their children about God for He alone changes hearts

  • Wisdom to connect specific challenges in their children’s lives to who God is for them in Jesus

  • Faith in God that doesn’t despair the absence of present fruit and perseveres in trusting the Lord’s work

  • Love for their children that is unconditional and full of mercy even when they are sinned against

  • Sensitivity to the Spirit to pick the right battles and not make every issue a major issue

  • Confidence that God will use the confession of their own sin as parents to show their children the goodness of Jesus

KW Specific Need: More King’sKids teachers with a contagious love for Jesus
