You’re about to fall into poverty, what are you going to do about it?
A. I will look for free used clothes and food items and wait for employment.
B. I would call people in my network to help me navigate options for avoiding poverty.

If you picked b. You’re right. We as a church desire to move beyond only offering transactional help (clothes, food, etc.) to providing transformational relationship for our neighbors experiencing poverty.

Many members in our church have years of life experience as well as a network and we have a way for you to share that experience that can help move someone from poverty to community. It’s called, The Open Table.

As Shawn Rozier and Sonya Chapman shared last Sunday, a “Table” is formed by 10-12 volunteers who bring their vocational and life experiences along with their personal networks to an impoverished family or young adult for approximately one year. Together, the Table develops and implements a customized LifePlan that can empower the family to live into their human potential God gave to them.

Imagine what our community could look like if we moved from simply transaction to entering into transformational relationships. Click here to find a more in-depth overview of the Open Table model and how it works.

Join us for an Information Meeting to learn more on Sunday, April 22nd at 6:30 pm in the Seminar Room here at KingsWay.

If you have any questions, or to let us know that you plan to attend the informational meeting, please contact Shawn Rozier at
