- Why do we need a “shepherd”? What has been your previous experience relating to your pastors or other spiritual authorities? How does this scripture teach us to relate to them? What is your response to this?
- Matthew taught that we are called to care for other believers who struggle with being idle, fainthearted, and/or weak. Define each of these terms. Which are you most susceptible to? Think about your spouse, your family, and those in your close orbit. What areas do some of them struggle with most?
- In each of the areas above, what are the best ways to help other believers who are struggling? What does it look like to admonish, encourage, or help those whom God puts in our path?
- Matthew’s final point was that we are called to do good to our enemies. What is your reaction to this calling? How is this calling made possible through Jesus? What are some actionable steps that you would like to take this week to move forward in this way?
