Here is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday plus a few discussion questions to talk about in your Community Group this week.

Josh Kruger opened with a Call to Worship.

We sang Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)Who Am I, and How Great is Our God.

Juan Ledon read from Psalm 46 and we sang Be Still and Know.

Matthew prayed and Bob Shanks read Mark 1:21-34–the scripture for this week’s teaching.

Matthew preached a sermon entitled Obedience Is Not Optional as part of our series, Son of God: The Gospel According to Mark.

After the message we sang Sovereign and gave our offerings.

Gene prayed and reminded visitors to stop by the Connect Desk  and mark their calendars for the new Starting Point class on November 14-15.

Gene closed our time together with a benediction.

Discussion Questions

1. We learned from Mark this week that the words of scripture carry the authority of Jesus and all things are subject to His authority. What implications do these simple truths have on our daily lives?

2. In Mark 1:21-28, what was the demon’s response to Jesus’ words? What does this event prove about Jesus’ authority?

3. Matthew said that the Gospel aids in obedience by assuring that the same Jesus who instructs us, loves us and died for us. Therefore, when He is in charge of our lives, He leads us on paths of steadfast love and faithfulness. With this in mind, are there any areas of life in which you are struggling to follow Jesus’ instruction?
