Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday, followed by discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week.

Josh opened our time together and we sang Our Song From Age to Age.

Jim Jastrzemski prayed a prayed a prayer of confession and we sang All the Way My Savior Leads Me and Kevin Khoffie read Hosea 2:16-23.

We sang When You Move and Worthy is the Lamb.

Anna shared a testimony about the American Heritage Girls and Matthew introduced the upcoming quarterly prayer night dates.

Matthew preached a message from 1 John 1:1-4 as the first in our new series Assured of Salvation. To listen to the message again, visit our Audio Resources page.

After the message we sang Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery and Chris led us in Communion.

After Communion Chris closed our time together with a benediction.

Discussion Questions:

1. In 1 John 1:4, John says that he is writing these the so that his “joy may be complete.” What does this mean?

2. Matthew said that authenticity is so important when it comes to our souls. What did he mean by this?

3. How can “southern culture” (genteel attitudes and disingenuous niceties) propitiate a false assurance of salvation? Is this something that you have ever experienced?

4. What are you most looking forward to growing in with this new study in the book of 1 John?
