- Matthew said that usually our motivation stems from how people respond to us or if they change as indicators of whether or not we should endure in ministry. Is it wrong to look at how people respond or if they change? What does 1 Thessalonians 2:3-4 say about what our primary motivation should be?
- In the three categories that illustrate why we try to please man (power, wealth, and fame), which of these is the area you are struggling with the most right now? Are there specific Bible verses you can look to that help you fight this battle?
- We have been commissioned by God to speak the gospel, and we are accountable to God. Matthew said that our commission pushes us from behind while accountability pulls us forward. How is this illustration helpful as you take “baby steps of obedience?”
- Matthew said “The gospel doesn’t make pleasing God irrelevant, it makes pleasing God possible.” How does this truth encourage you to keep fighting for holiness? What does pleasing God look like in your life right now?
