Here’s a quick overview of our meeting last Sunday, including a few discussions questions for Community Group conversation this week:

Sunday Review (Jan 19)

We began by listening to Matthew read Ps 95:1-8.

We sang Crown Him (Majesty), followed by How Great is Your Faithfulness.

Several members shared prophetic words that God impressed on their heart to edify the church.

We sang Soon and All I Have is Christ.

After welcoming our guests, we listened as Stephanie Shanks read 1 Peter 1:3-5.

Gene prayed for our Community Group Leaders and then preached a sermon entitled, “Our Great Salvation” as part of our Testify series.

We shared communion together and sang Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone).

We meditated on Matt 19:27-30 as we gave an offering to support the mission of our church

Before giving the benediction, Matthew recommended Finally Alive by John Piper as a resource for growing in our understanding of the miracle of spiritual regeneration, which Gene had focused on in his sermon.

Discussion Questions:

1) What does it mean to be spiritually born again?

2) Why do we need to be born again?

3) What has God promised to those who have been born again?

Matthew Williams grew up attending KingsWay and joined the pastoral staff in 2009. God has blessed him and his wife, Aliza, with three rambunctious boys, Ethan, Micah, and Tyler. Matthew did his undergraduate work at the University of Richmond in chemistry and political science, spent a year at the Sovereign Grace Pastor’s College, and is nearly finished with his Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
