Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday followed by a few discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week.

Gary Stergar opened our time together by reading John 1:1-18.

We sang My Soul Magnifies the LordWhen Love Came Down, and He Will Hold Me Fast.

Matthew introduced the fourth quarterly Sovereign Grace Missions update and we viewed it together.

After the missions update, Matthew took a few minutes to honor Brittany Fernandez, KingsWay’s KingsKids Director and Office Coordinator. Brittany will be stepping down from her role in January.

Mike Whitener read Psalm 102–the text for the morning’s message from our current miniseries, Songs of the Savior. To listen to Matthew’s sermon again, visit our Audio Resources page.

After the message, we sang How Great is Your Faithfulness.

Matthew closed the meeting with a benediction. He reminded people to commit to supporting our Christmas Box Outreach and invited all to attend the Christmas Eve Service on December 24th at 6:30 pm.

Discussion Questions:

1. Matthew taught that when we are suffering, our first response ought to be to pour out our sorrows. Why is talking to God the single most important thing that we can do? Why must talking to God take priority over talking to other people?

2. When talking to God, what is the ultimate goal? In what ways is biblical change intensely relational?

3. Our second response should be to plead God’s promises. What does this mean? What are the four promises that Matthew mentioned from this Psalm?

4. The third response is to trust God’s faithfulness. When your suffering has been great, how did God’s faithfulness prove to be greater? How is Christmas one of the best manifestations of God’s faithfulness?

Serena joined the office staff team in December of 2015. Originally from Aurora, Colorado, Serena began attending KingsWay when she moved to Midlothian in 2012 - immediately becoming drawn in to the vibrant and diverse community. She received her undergrad degree in Communications and Journalism and is pursuing graduate work in Counseling and Discipleship. Serena works full-time in the non-profit sector and serves on the board of the Bolivia Missions Foundation.
