- How does genuine faith respond to the suffering and death in this life? How does the context of our suffering reveal the content of our faith?
- What is the significance in where and how Jacob was buried? How did God’s faithfulness shine through even in Jacob’s death? As believers in Christ, how are we to look at a different tomb, that of Jesus, as a sign of God’s faithfulness to us? How is Christ’s bodily resurrection a present assurance of the faithfulness of God?
- In considering the evil of sin, Matthew taught that you will never be able to maintain a posture of forgiveness toward those who hurt and sin against you unless you believe they are ultimately accountable to the Lord. What does this mean? What sort of conviction about God’s sovereignty should this inspire?
- For you personally, as a parent or a spouse or a single person, what is the hardest part about waiting for ultimate deliverance? In that struggle, what best stays your mind upon the certainty of salvation?
