Below is a brief review of our meeting on Sunday, followed by a few discussion questions for Community Group or personal study this week.

Josh opened our time together with announcements and a Call to Worship from Psalm 16:1-11.

An ensemble led by Cindy Hickman sang Jesus Christ is Risen Today.

We sang Behold Our GodChrist is Risen, and the Lord is My Salvation.

Matthew read Romans 8:18-25 and Doug Bare shared a testimony about his trust in God through his battle with ALS.

Mike Hickman read 1 John 2:7-11 and Matthew preached the message “Loving in the Light of Christ” as the next in our current series, Assured of SalvationTo listen to the message again, visit our Audio Resources page.

We sang Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me) and we prayed for Don and Pat McCauley, and Fabian and Bridget Wisner and their family as they prepare to move to different states.

Chris closed our time together with a benediction.

Discussion Questions:

1. How does the command to love separate the light from the darkness?

2. How does the fact that the darkness is gone and the light now shining make the command to love a new one? How is the redemptive work of God transformative in our lives?

3. What is the correlation between loving our neighbors and loving our enemies? How did the death of Christ establish a radically new standard for how to love?

4. What is the first step to loving people? Why must we begin with repenting of our lovelessness and experiencing the Lord’s forgiveness before we can truly love in the way that Christ commanded?
