Discussion Questions:
1. What role does God’s word play in the guaranteeing of His blessings? In this passage, how do Jacob’s actions affirm his trust in God’s word?
2. Matthew taught that even when God’s ways don’t make sense, when they aren’t what we would expect or even desire, they are still good and worthy of our trust. What is your reaction to your statement? Is this something that is difficult for you to believe and live by? In what ways has God proved His faithfulness to you personally, even when you don’t know what He is doing?
3. What does our character have to do with God’s blessing? Is it possible to trust Jesus without obeying Jesus? Why not? Do you ever try to force this dichotomy in your own life?
4. How are the blessings of God ultimately secured through the work of Christ? What effect does this have on the life of a believer?
