On Sunday, September 24, 2017 Barb Powers shared a Prayer of Confession as a part of our Sunday Meeting. The text of her prayer is below. We hope that her words continue to convict and inspire your hearts this week!

Heavenly Father, we come before you this morning with our heads bowed in humble adoration for who you are. Unfortunately, sometimes we have forgotten that we are yours. That we have been bought with an incredible Price. Many of us walk through our daily lives failing to recognize the true magnitude of your glory and Holiness. For you are God Almighty, the one who holds all Universes in your hands, and yet you are mindful of each and every one of your children. Your love continually surrounds us, your Holy Spirit dwells within us and walks with us daily and still many of us carry on as if there is no God at all. Forgive us Lord and have mercy on us. Open our eyes to walk in the paths that you have asked us to walk, to speak the words that will bring honor and glory to your name.

When we disengage ourselves from you and your ways Lord, draw us back to you with the power of your love, a love which is still not fully understood by us. You stepped out of Heaven to draw all men unto yourself. In Psalm 103:11, it says, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is your loving kindness toward those who fear him.”  No one deserves a love like this. Help us Lord to comprehend the width and breadth and height and depth of a love so unconditional, that it forgives All of our offences. Let us come before you now, in complete humility, knowing that without the precious shed blood of Jesus, there is absolutely nothing in and of ourselves that we can present before you.

Father have mercy on us, remove our sins from us and cast them into the sea of forgetfulness. Our sins of arrogance and pride. Our sins of self-exaltation, and putting ourselves above others.  Our secret thoughts and desire to prefer to love and serve some and not others. This kind of love allows us to believe that we are walking in your truths when the subtleties of our deceitfulness blinds our hearts and eyes. Please open the realities of your Word that will illuminate our hearts and minds to submit ourselves to your ways, so that we can become all that you would have us to be. We confess our many sins and acknowledge that we desperately need you Lord. Please meet us today and turn our stony into hearts of flesh once again. Place our feet upon the solid Rock of Christ and lead us daily to become more and more like Him. We will give you all honor, praise and thanksgiving. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
