On Sunday, Anna Rogness shared about the work of American Heritage Girls (AHG) – one of the multiple faith-based organizations that KingsWay members are passionate about. One of AHG’s troops are housed here at KingsWay. For more information, read the information below or visit americanheritagegirls.org.

American Heritage Girls (AHG) – A faith-based scouting troop ministry based out of local churches all across America. Our mission is to build women of integrity through faith, service and fun. Have you ever wanted to be a missionary in your own town? Have you ever wanted to make a difference for our country? AHG has been an opportunity for me to invest in the future generation. It puts feet on my faith! It has challenged me to step out in faith, lead by example, goof off, prepare devotions and counseling sessions for troop needs, and focus on encouraging these precious young ladies in intentional ways.

Troop VA 0516 is a new troop housed here at KingsWay. God has poured out His favor in the increase of families becoming invested from a large surrounding area. We have already established “honor” troop status by implementing the proper structure, programs, and team work among our families. We get a front row seat to view the girls growing in courage, faith, leadership and friendship.

Here are a few reasons why our girls love AHG:

  • Safe environment for us to test our wings
  • Grow as a role model
  • Learn about or do things I wouldn’t otherwise pursue
  • Special projects
  • Songs
  • Making new friends, especially welcoming new friends into our troop
  • Baking a cake and decorating it to share
  • Working on badges
  • Helping the poor
  • Devotions

To get involved we would recommend coming for a visit to see if it is a good fit for you. We meet here at KingsWay on Tuesday evenings from 6:45 pm – 8:15 pm.

Serena joined the office staff team in December of 2015. Originally from Aurora, Colorado, Serena began attending KingsWay when she moved to Midlothian in 2012 - immediately becoming drawn in to the vibrant and diverse community. She received her undergrad degree in Communications and Journalism and is pursuing graduate work in Counseling and Discipleship. Serena works full-time in the non-profit sector and serves on the board of the Bolivia Missions Foundation.
