The good news of the Bible is that our holy, loving Creator, confronted with human hostility and rebellion, has freely chosen to become our loving Redeemer. He sent His only Son as a man, fully God and fully man, to live a perfect life in our place and then suffer a death upon the cross, taking the full weight of our sin, and rising again on the third day. Because of his life, death and resurrection, it is possible for human beings to be reconciled from our current state of rebelliousness towards God to a place of restored relationship through the accomplishments of his Son, Jesus. By placing our full faith in the completed work of Jesus Christ, we experience the benefits of his righteousness, joy, and peace in this imperfect world, while our ultimate hope is in his promise of eternal life with God in heaven after we die. "...Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst... I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life." 1 Timothy 1:15-16 |
